When the floodwaters rose, might and power were rendered meaningless against the unstoppable force of God’s judgment. The strongest swimmers, the tallest giants, and the most fortified structures stood no chance as the earth was engulfed. In Genesis 6:17-18, God declared, “And behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.”
In this moment, strength of muscle or wealth of possessions provided no refuge. The prepared, those who listened to God’s voice and took action according to His word, found safety in the ark. Noah’s preparedness was not merely practical but spiritual—rooted in faith and obedience. He did not build the ark overnight; it was a long, laborious process that required steadfastness and trust, even when the skies were clear and the threat seemed distant.
The unprepared, however, likely boasted of their abilities and resources, believing they could withstand any storm. But when the rains came, their strength became weakness, and their pride turned to panic. The flood was a divine equalizer, showing that salvation was not for the strongest but for those who had heeded God’s warning and prepared accordingly.
This truth echoes into our lives today. Preparation, particularly spiritual preparation, is far more valuable than temporal strength. Life’s storms often come without warning, and in those moments, it is not our outward might but our inward readiness that determines our survival. The ark stands as a symbol of this truth—a reminder that when the world is drowning, only those who have prepared their hearts and lives according to God’s guidance will find refuge.
When waters rose and thunder blared,
The might of man and strength of arm,
Proved useless in the raging storm.
Giants fell, and towers sank,
The proud, the bold, the rich, the rank.
For when the flood engulfed the land,
None survived but those who planned.
Noah, with steady hands and grace,
Built the ark in a dry, calm place.
While mockers laughed and doubters jeered,
He trusted God, his heart was steered.
When the first drops met the earth,
Strength and power showed their worth
Nothing but whispers in the rain,
While prepared souls rose again.
The ark, a refuge, safe and dry,
Floated beneath a weeping sky.
And all who entered, faithful, wise,
Found life where others met demise.
The flood, a force none could withstand,
Proved only firm the ready hand.
For in the storm, it’s not the strong,
But the prepared who last lifelong.
